CLEVELAND, MS -- The East Side Trojans (Cleveland, MS) were in high spirits Tuesday as their basketball team thwarted the hosting Yazoo County Panthers in a 64-47 win on Wednesday afternoon.
It was Valentine's Day to begin with and love was in the air. But that wasn't all that was in the air as East Side High senior guard Peyton Taylor impressed the crowd with a magnificent dunk while still mid air from the previous dunk attempt.
Taylor went up for an impressive alley-oop dunk, which was a failed attempt. However, while still hanging on to the rim with one hand, he rebounded his own dunk attempt and slammed it down again with the other.
Since then, the video has gone viral as it has been shared more than 2,000 times via social media websites.
Averaging 12.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds a game, Taylor is definitely growing into a solid layer with the ability to easily score, pass and defend his opponents.
Taylor finished with 7 points on 3 of 7 field goal attempts, while shooting 43% from the field. He ended the game with 3 total rebounds and 2 assists.
With junior post player Kamarian Williams returning from being sidelined with the flu, he led the team in scoring with 20 points for the night while Kierre Jackson contributed 11 points.
With this win, East Side High moves to 17-10 on the season. The Trojans will travel to Humphreys County to play the Cowboys in a 3A Region 3 battle on Friday, Feb. 17. The Cowboys are currently 16-11 for the season.
