Leflore County can't hold off Coahoma Aggie Tigers in Christmas Tournament

CLARKSDALE, MS -- The Aggie Tigers men's basketball team came into the day with their minds focused on one thing - victory against the visiting Leflore County High School. Both teams appeared to be struggling on both offense and defense as they both were back and forth much of the game. Foul trouble appeared to be an issue for both teams as they both suffered from the free throw line. Neither team was successful at getting much ground, but Coahoma Aggie was able to come out with a win over Leflore County.

The Coahoma Agricultural Tigers basketball team scored 51 points and restricted the visiting Leflore County Tigers to 44 in Aggie's non-league victory. The Aggie Tigers claimed third place behind Clarksdale High School and Coahoma County in their CAHS Christmas Tournament.

The Tigers' forward Dretavious Evans was named the MaxPreps Player of the Game. He finished with 17 points, 1 assist and 12 rebounds. He shot 50 percent shooting on 7 of 14 attempts. Cornelius Holly added 13 points, 6 assists and 7 rebounds for the night, while Cardarius Gilliam chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Leflore County leading scorer was junior forward Joe McGee who finished with 8 points. Tyrone Payne, a junior guard, added five points.

With a 10-6 record, Coahoma Aggie will now face Amanda Elzy next on Jan. 3 as they put it all on the line in another non-league contest. Leflore County will start to make preparations for West Bolivar in their next matchup.
